Programs in the Health and Human Development (HHD) are offered through eight academic units:
Biobehavioral Health is an innovative interdisciplinary program that explores all factors-biological, behavioral, social/cultural, and environmental-that influence the health of individuals and groups through the life span.
Communication Sciences and Disorders
Communication Sciences and Disorders at Penn State studies and researches human communication disorders through foundations in the basic sciences and processes related to communication, swallowing, and cognition.
Health Policy and Administration
Health Policy and Administration at Penn State prepares students to be leaders in health management, health policy, public health, health law, health services research, and other health-related and clinical fields.
Hospitality Management offers broad educational foundations, real-world experiences and opportunities, and research to equip students to become industry leaders.
Human Development and Family Studies
Human Development and Family Studies studies human development across the lifespan in the context of the family, community, and society.
Kinesiology discovers and disseminates new knowledge about physical activity, exercise, and human movement and its relationship to human health and disease.
Nutritional Sciences trains students to become leaders in nutrition, integrating the span of knowledge from molecules to organisms to populations with the goal of improving human health.
Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management
Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management uses a coupled human and natural systems approach to address global issues of environmental conservation, human health and wellness, and human development.
