This study examined the relationship between managed care (MC) enrollment of employees and retirees from a Fortune 100 company and measures from the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS). HEDIS is the most widely used data set for measuring performance in the MC industry. The validity of health plan ratings (usually comprised of individual HEDIS measures) was examined from the consumer perspective. The study sought to improve methods for evaluating managed care organizations.
