Dr. Short Joins President Spanier for Call-In Show on Health Care for the Uninsured

On Tuesday, March 25, 2003, Dr. Pamela Farley Short, Director of the Center for Health Care and Policy Research and Professor of Health Policy and Administration, joined Penn State's President Graham B. Spanier for his monthly call-in radio show, "To the Best of My Knowledge."

Dr. Roger J. Bulger, president and CEO of the Association of Academic Health Centers and a member of the National Advisory Council on Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health, participated by phone from Washington, DC.

Dr. Short and Dr. Bulger discussed issues related to the uninsured in America and disparities between those with health insurance and those without. Additionally, they fielded calls from listeners / viewers. The questions ranged from asking how to obtain low-cost basic health insurance for adults living in Pennsylvania to seeking the experts' opinion about the efficiency of public and private health insurers. Many listeners phoned in to express their opinions and offer suggestions on ways to improve coverage for the uninsured and underinsured.
