Health Services Research Colloquium - Fall 2014

On Monday, September 8th, the Health Services Research Colloquium has kicked off for the Fall 2014 semester with Dr. Sujoy Chakravarty’s presentation, “Hospital Adjustments to Changing Demand and Provision of Uncompensated Care:  Does Ownership Make a Difference?”   Future topics, speakers and dates are listed below.

For those in the University Park area, the Colloquium convenes in 118 Keller Building from 11:30 - 1:00 pm

If you plan to attend the Penn State vs. Nebraska football game on November 23 in Beaver Stadium, make sure to stop by the HPA alumni tailgate hosted by the HPA Affiliate Program Group (HPA APG). Visit with some faculty members and other HPA alumni. Bring the whole family. Stay for a few minutes or spend the whole day!

Alumni Recognition Award

The Alumni Recognition Award is presented to an alumnus/alumna of the College of Health and Human Development or College of Nursing who has demonstrated professional excellence and exemplary voluntary community involvement in a health and human development field or nursing. Must have graduated more 10 years ago.

Alumni Service Award

The Alumni Service Award recognizes an alumnus or alumna of the College of Health and Human Development or College of Nursing who has positively impacted the quality of people's lives through service to others above and beyond their call of duty. Must have graduated more than 10 years ago.

Emerging Professional Awards

The Emerging Professional–Graduate Degree Award and the Emerging Professional–Undergraduate Degree Award recognize graduates of the past ten years who have demonstrated professional excellence and/or exemplary voluntary community involvement in the health and human development or nursing professions.

Alumni Recognition Award

The Alumni Recognition Award is presented to an alumnus/alumna of the College of Health and Human Development (CHHD) who has demonstrated professional excellence and exemplary voluntary community involvement in a health and human development field.

Eligibility and Criteria

To be considered for the Alumni Recognition Award, an individual must have received their degree more than ten years ago, achieved outstanding professional excellence (e.g. research, leadership and practice) in a CHHD area expertise, and demonstrated consistent exemplary community service.

Alumni Service Award

The Alumni Service Award recognizes an alumnus/alumna of the College of Health and Human Development (CHHD) who has positively impacted the quality of people's lives through service to others above and beyond their call of duty.

Eligibility and Criteria

The actions of the recipient of the Alumni Service Award exemplify the CHHD commitment to improving the quality of people's lives. This award focuses on service to others as a means of improving quality of life. The recipient may serve others in one or more of the following settings: The College of HHD; Penn State; The Community: Our Nation; Our World
The service may occur as part of the individual's participation in a service or nonprofit organization, or an entity, organization, or event of the recipient's own creation. The service shall occur within a field related to health or human development.
To be eligible, the nominee must have received either an undergraduate or graduate degree from the college and must have provided service above and beyond their call of duty in an area of work which has positively impacted the lives of others. NOTE: Past recipients of this award and members of the CHHD Alumni Society Board are not eligible.

Health and Human Development/School of Nursing Alumni Tailgate

College of Health and Human Development/School of Nursing Alumni Tailgate will be on October 12, 2013 (Homecoming, before the Michigan game which is scheduled for 5 p.m.)  Location: Spikes Stadium along Porter Road.  If you are planning to attend, please notify Diane Collins via e-mail:  dvc1@psu.edu.

2013 Professionals in the Classroom (PIC)

The 2013 Professionals in the Classroom (PIC) event will be taking place on October 24th and 25th.   Graduate courses on October 23rd are also available for PIC.  Please contact Ken Cook at kgcookjr.psu@gmail.com, if you are interested in volunteering for this program.
