SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Business Intelligence & Portfolio Analysis team is responsible for Host’s financial analytics function which is used to drive profitability and provide for more informed business decision making. The successful candidate requires an understanding of hospitality operations and the ability to analyze and problem solve complex information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for in-depth property, brand and portfolio operations analyses, internal and external benchmarking and identification and monitoring of key performance metrics.
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of general ledger and statistical data utilized in property and portfolio operational analyses.
- Provide written and verbal assessments of identified profit improvement opportunities and operations performance issues.
- Prepare financial models to track property and brand performance goals, theoretical flow through, forecast accuracy and other historical and leading indicator measures that help drive portfolio value.
- Responsible for projects related to the successful integration of management company data into our analytical system. This involves working closely with property and brand teams and a variety of Host departments to ensure the integrity of our data and the continued growth of our analytical capabilities.
- Ad-hoc property, brand and industry analysis and reporting as requested by the Vice President of Business Intelligence & Portfolio.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelors Degree preferably in Finance/Hospitality Management or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years experience in hotel financial operations analysis / accounting
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required and experience with Cognos or similar OLAP product preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with proven ability to perform concurrent tasks
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support MS Visual Studio.Net/ASP.Net, Crystal Reports, Java, HTML, Oracle SQL/PL/SQL, XML, Cognos 7.x Impromptu and Power Play transformer
- Daily use of scripting languages, such as: PHP, HTML, VB Scripts, shell scripts, etc…
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of all information technology concepts including database structures, software/application development techniques, QA techniques
- Support the business application systems, completely understanding the core technology
- Readily adapt to new technologies and practices in the work environment
- Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems (MIS) required
- Minimum of 5 years management information systems
- Ability to operate effectively in a team based organizational structure and in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent working knowledge and use with personal computer and standard office products (e.g., Word, Excel, E-mail, MS Project, Visio, etc.)
- Must be able to work independently and quickly grasp and implement complex business processes and technical solutions
- Must be flexible to respond to unexpected changes in work load, emergencies and priority situations.
