HHD Alumni Awards: Edith Pitt Chace Award

The Edith Pitt Chace Award recognizes an outstanding student leader and scholar in the College of Health and Human Development.

Eligibility and Criteria

This award shall be given to one College of Health and Human Development upcoming senior. Candidates must:

  1. have at least sixth semester standing at the beginning of Spring Semester 2008;
  2. demonstrate outstanding scholarship (3.0 or above cumulative grade point average), and;
  3. demonstrate outstanding leadership in the College and the Pennsylvania State University.

Nominating Procedure

The Director of Alumni Relations will receive the nominations and forward them to the Awards Committee of the HHD Alumni Society Board. Nominations may be made by students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Students may nominate themselves. The nomination/self-nomination shall consist of:

  1. Completed application form.
  2. Statement by the candidate, not to exceed 200 words, explaining why he/she should be considered.
  3. One letter of reference from a faculty member of the College.

Selection Committee

The recipient of this award shall be selected by the Awards Committee of the College of Health and Human Development Alumni Society Board.

The Award

The recipient shall receive a $1,000 scholarship, which will be applied toward tuition during the next academic year. The recipient will also receive a plaque, which will be presented at a ceremony in the Spring.
