Fran and Holly Soistman Faculty Development Award
The Fran and Holly Soistman Faculty Development Award honors a faculty member’s engagement in significant, innovative research related to the design, development, delivery, administration or evaluation of health care services.
This award is intended to honor a member of the faculty of the College of Health and Human Development or the School of Nursing who is engaged in significant, innovative research related to the design, development, delivery, administration, or evaluation of health care services.
All full-time tenured or tenure-eligible faculty members in the College of Health and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University are eligible for the “Fran and Holly Soistman Award.”
The nomination shall consist of the following: (1) a comprehensive letter of Procedure support (signed by at least two nominators) that describes the research contributions of the candidate and identifies the nature and significance of the research to the design, development, delivery, administration or evaluation of health care services; (2) an up-to-date and comprehensive resume; and (3) a statement of support and endorsement from the department head or school director of the academic unit in which the candidate holds his or her primary appointment.
A committee, appointed by the Dean of the College of Health and Human Development, will make recommendations to the Dean regarding the selection of recipients.
Past recipients are not eligible for a period of three years.
Recipients of this award will receive a plaque and a stipend. Funds may be used for, but not limited to, registration for professional development inferences, research equipment, travel, and supplies for professional activities. Following the year of their award, each recipient will submit to the Dean a brief narrative overview outlining how the gift has been used to further their healthcare-related research.
