Mentoring Program receives award
![]() |
| Kay Salvino '69 IFS, president-elect of the board of directors of the HHD Alumni Society, accepts the "Student Interaction" award from Roger Williams, executive director of the Penn State Alumni Association, and Alumni Council Awards Committee Co-Chair Jill Semmer |
At the Penn State Alumni Association’s 2005 Volunteer Awards ceremony on November 4, the Alumni Society of the College of Health and Human Development received the “Student Interaction Award” for the Mentoring Program. The Alumni Society was the impetus behind the creation of the Mentoring Program, which has served 325 students and 280 alumni since 2001. The Volunteer Awards were presented during a banquet in the atrium of the new Business Building before the entire Penn State Alumni Council and guests. Also during the ceremony, the Penn State Hotel and Restaurant Society received the “Fellowship and Networking Award” for its Hospitality Executive of the Year event in New York City. The Volunteer Awards, part of the Alumni Association’s comprehensive recognition program, acknowledge outstanding individuals and groups for service to their communities, the University, and the Alumni Association.
