Advanced Global Leadership Seminar
Following their planned international experience(s), GLI participants will sign up for the 1-credit course, Advanced Global Leadership Seminar (HHD 497). This seminar will offer GLI participants an opportunity to further develop their acquired global leadership skills and share them with subsequent cohorts of the GLI. The course description and objectives are as follows:
This seminar will offer GLI participants an opportunity to further develop their acquired global leadership skills and share them with subsequent cohorts of the GLI and with undergraduate students in their respective programs (e.g., through invited class presentations and other opportunities to promote internationalization).
This course is designed to cover advanced concepts, theories, and practical issues related to understanding leadership and to becoming a leader in a global context in areas that relate to human health and well being.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Communicate a deeper understanding of cultural issues that affect global health, human and community development, and sustainability issues.
- Understand different ways to provide leadership across cultural contexts to address issues that affect global health, human and community development, and sustainability.
- Articulate a personal goal(s) for being involved in international leadership opportunities vis-à-vis the Global Leadership Initiative.
In this course, students will continue to work on their Global Voices Project. As part of this, students will collaboratively work on a project that makes use of their newly acquired leadership and international skills.
