Below is a sample schedule from Healthy People Penn State 2012. The schedule for Healthy People 2013 is being developed.

Wednesday, October 17

Students arrive at Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus by 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, October 18

8:15-8:45 a.m. Overview of program activities, objectives, and expectations
8:45-9:00 a.m. Welcome to HHD and School of Nursing (Deans Crouter and Nuzzo-Milone)
9:00-11:30 a.m. Session 1 – Featured faculty presentations on current and planned HHD research focuses, based on Healthy People 2020 goals:
  1. High-quality, longer lives
  2. Health equity
  3. Social and physical environments
  4. Healthy development and healthy behaviors
11:30-1:00 p.m. Lunch – Organized with faculty and graduate students
1:00-2:30 p.m. Session 2 – Concurrent poster session with graduate students and one-on-one meetings with faculty or graduate students
2:30-4:00 p.m. Session 3 – Visits to research centers or labs
4:00-5:00 p.m. Session 4 – Professional development round table: “The graduate school experience”
5:00-6:00 p.m. Free Time
6:00-8:00 p.m. Dinner – With alumni guest speaker

Friday, October 19

9:00-10:00 a.m. Session 5 – Research round table: “Ask the professors”
10:00-10:15 a.m. Break
10:15-11:30 a.m. Session 6 – Concurrent poster session, one-on-one meetings, or visits to research centers and labs
11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Lunch – With graduate students in Hetzel Union Building (HUB)
1:00-2:30 p.m. Session 7 – Research presentations: “Dynamic duos”
2:30-2:45 p.m. Break
2:45-4:00 p.m. Session 8 – Professional development round table: “The application process”
4:00-5:30 p.m. Campus Tour – Lion Ambassadors (or one-on-one meetings)
5:30-6:30 p.m. Free Time
6:30-8:30 p.m. Closing Dinner – at Café Laura with guest speaker

Saturday, October 20

Free time in morning to explore campus or brunch with new graduate student friends.

Depart State College for home.
