Deb Heaster: Assistant Teacher
I've been married for 26 years, mother of two boys and two girls. I am a grandmother of one granddaughter and one grandson. I live in Alexandria a small town about an hour from State College. I live on a small beef farm with some additional animals such as swine, rabbits, dogs and cats. I enjoy being a leader and a livestock committee member with the 4-H program. I enjoy being with my family, watching my children's involvement with sports, FFA (Future Farmer's of America) and 4-H programs. We show our livestock at the Huntingdon Co. Fair, Beef Expo and other shows around the area. I am also the secretary/treasurer of the Juniata Valley Wrestling Club for Elementary, Jr. High and Varsity levels.
I graduated from high school in 1978. I was a stay-at-home mom until 1992 when I began working for Huntingdon Head Start. I worked my way from substitute teacher to assistant teacher to elad teacher. There I earned by CDA (Child Development Associate Credential). I just earned my Associate Degree here at Penn State In Human Development and Family Studies in December 2006. I will continue to work on getting a BS degree.
I stared employment with Penn State in August 1998 as an assistant teacher at Cedar in the infant room. When we moved into Bennett, I moved in the Young Toddler room, then after an injury I moved to a preschool room. After healing, I am moving back to an Infant/Toddler room where my true passion lies. I appreciate the opportunity to work with your children.
