College-Wide Centers

Centers throughout the College provide leadership in fostering research in areas at the cutting edge of Health and Human Development. These centers often provide graduate students with research experiences, workshops, consultation, and access to visiting faculty. Currently, HDFS faculty direct four of these Centers. These include:

Other Centers in the College include the Center for Developmental and Health Genetics, the Center for Locomotion Studies, and Noll Physiological Research Laboratory.

HDFS Children's Programs

The department operates two full-day early childhood programs (The Child Development Lab and the Bennett Family Center) serving a total of 176 children from 6 weeks through six years of age. While the programs do not hold research grants, they do support research conducted by faculty, graduate students, and honors undergraduates from across the university. Equipped with one-way mirrors, the laboratory is also a site for investigating child growth and psychosocial development.

Computer Facilities

The University provides several large computer labs around the campus for use by students. The college has recently installed computer stations for student use located throughout Henderson. There are also departmental computers available to graduate students, and research projects provide computer access to participating students. Students have access to e-mail, the Internet, and the worldwide web and are provided with free software so that they can log on from home.

Video Laboratories

The College maintains three research labs that are equipped with state of the art video equipment for observational research.
