Optional Minors for HDFS Majors

A minor is optional for HDFS majors. If you decide you want to pursue a minor, it is important to understand that a minor is a specialization of at least 18 credits that supplements your major. It may entail an extra semester of course work. With some minors, it is possible to double count credits that satisfy major and minor requirements, e.g., BIOL 55 could satisfy a three credit requirement in the Gerontology Minor and also satisfy three credits of a student's General Education natural science requirement.

If you are interested in a specialization, consider a minor. Talk it over with your adviser. Examples of minors HDFS students have pursued are listed below. If you are interested in one of these minors, the place to contact for more information is provided.

If you are interested in other minors, they are listed by College at this site: http://www.registrar.psu.edu/minors/ug_index.html.

You will need to complete an Entrance to Minor Form available from the Office of the Registrar.
