Courses in the Department of Health Policy and Administration
HPA students complete a foundation set of courses in economics, sociology, political science, and business. Required courses for the major cover the health care system, health services management, health policy, and medical needs. In addition to choosing among department elective courses in health finance, epidemiology, human resources management, managed care, strategic planning and marketing, long-term care, and others, HPA students take supporting courses from other departments that provide opportunities for exploration and specialization. For example, students can select courses in an area of interest like women's health or choose a minor like management information systems, gerontology, political science, business logistics, economics, or labor and industrial relations.
Our junior/senior courses emphasize discussion, case study, presentation, and contact with working health care professionals.
