Twenty-One Penn State Students Attend National Conference
Eight undergraduate and 13 graduate students traveled to Chicago at attend the annual American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Congress from March 13-18, 2005. With almost 90 educational sessions and over 4000 attendees, the ACHE conference was an information-rich forum with a significant networking component. Students attended sessions such as “Healthcare Secrets You Didn’t Learn in Graduate School,” “Managing Patient Flow,” and “Operations Improvement and Innovation: The Key to Organizational Health.”
In addition to the educational sessions, student benefited from several networking receptions, including a Penn State alumni/student reception, where students had the opportunity to meet with key decision-makers and network with influential contacts. Dequan Jiao and Anusha Sivaramakrishnan were respectively recognized at the reception as the 2004 Oral Competition winner and Penn State's 2004 Hill Rom Essay contest winner.
Moreover, because the Congress took place on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago , students were able to take advantage of the myriad of attractions Chicago has to offer, with trips to the Art Institute, the Field Museum , the Museum of Science and Technology, and the Aquarium.
