Board of Visitors supports MHA program

The Penn State Master of Health Administration Board of Visitors, which consists of health care professionals and alumni, meets regularly to discuss current developments in the health care industry. The board provides support for students seeking career opportunities by "serving as a foundation for development of ongoing support for the program."

Professionals in the Classroom planned for October

The HPA department and its Alumni Affiliate Program Group will be hosting the 2011 Professionals in the Classroom Program event on October 20 and 21. During this annual event, alumni and health care professionals visit Penn State to provide students with advice and insight regarding current issues in health management and policy. Participants speak in HPA classes and take part in an evening panel discussion. The program held this fall will mark the 5th anniversary of the event.

Coulthard named 2011 Mentor of the Year

The HPA department and its Alumni Affiliate Program Group have selected the HPA Mentor of the Year after a review of nominations submitted by the protégés. The winner for 2011 is Randy Coulthard ’07 H P A, who was nominated by his protégé Kelly Reinhardt.

Coulthard, of Manchester, Conn., the new APG president as of July 1, works as an operations specialist at CIGNA in Bloomfield, Conn.

The College of Health and Human Development Mentoring Program connects HHD students and alumni by matching students with professionals in their fields of interest who can offer advice and information about career options or other issues relevant to particular fields.

The mentoring program is open to all alumni of the college as well as to Penn State alumni working in HHD-related fields.
