You must supply the blank MiniDV tapes (masters) that you will use to tape your meeting or activity.

Media Copying Facility. Once you have made your recordings, you can submit a service request to have the master tapes copied to VHS or DVD media. We will supply the blank media (tape or DVD) on which your copies will be recorded to assure overall quality and compatibility with our copying equipment. We will bill you for the media at cost. Your ISS service hour balance will be charged for the time needed to make the copies. The original MiniDV master tapes will be returned to you with the VHS or DVD copies that were ordered. No editing services or technician services for videotaping your activity are being provided at this time, just direct copies from one media (MiniDV) to another (VHS, DVD or additional MiniDV copies, whatever you need).

Call ISS at 865-INFO to check availability of the equipment and to request a reservation.

NOTE: It is highly recommended that individuals unfamiliar with this equipment spend some time learning about it before its actual use.

For example, you should assure that the camcorder batteries are fully charged before placing the camcorder in service. Also, the camcorder has many programmable settings. You should familiarize yourself with its operation before you find it not working as expected while taping your event.

Priority is normally given to classroom presentations by faculty who are unable to reserve equipment from Penn State's Media Tech group. Since most items are checked out several times per week, it is normally difficult to reserve these items for long periods of time. We will allow you to reserve this equipment for a period longer than 3 days but we reserve the right to recall any equipment on the 4th day if others are waiting. Reserving the item so it can be used as a backup can only be done if no one else is waiting. If someone needs the item to use as their primary device, they would get first priority.
