| Services: Installation and Maintenance of Network Equipment
Located in tucked away “closets” in the buildings our College occupies is an assortment of network equipment. This gear is what allows you to access University resources and Internet resources using your personal computer from the comfort of your office. This equipment is also what keeps outsiders from working their way into our protected spaces.
Switches, security devices, and uninterruptable power supplies are located in these closets. All office data connections make their way back to the closets where they are routed through this equipment and out of the building to the University backbone. From there connections are made to the Internet.
This equipment must be maintained on a regular upgrade cycle. The interfaces to the backbone must be updated. Troubleshooting must take place when network performance is not up to par. ISS takes care of these items for all equipment in about 20 on and off campus closets.
