Scholarship and Funding Opportunities

College of Health and Human Development Managed Scholarships

To recognize the accomplishments of our students, the College of Health and Human Development awards over $1,200,000 annually in scholarships and awards. Funds are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, school/community activities, leadership positions, and work experience. Students must be enrolled in the College of Health and Human Development. Some scholarships and awards require enrollment in a specific major.

To Apply

All continuing HHD students including Kinesiology students who wish to be considered for scholarships/awards provided by the College of Health and Human Development and its academic units (i.e. Department of Kinesiology) for the 2008-2009 academic year must complete the College on-line scholarship application.  All applicants are also required to attach a resume and brief statement (300 words or less) that describes your interest in applying for a scholarship which may include a discussion of academic achievements, extra-curricular activities, leadership experience, community involvement, career goals, financial need issues and those things that set you apart from others.  Scholarship information and the on-line application are available on the College website at http://www.hhdev.psu.edu/scholarships/.

Department of Kinesiology Managed Scholarships

Rumpelstielzchen Student Endowment in Exercise and Sport Science: The Rumpelstielzchen Student Endowment is supportive of undergraduate summer internship experiences, and the intent is to “promote the concept of exercising for fitness by enhancing the professional competence of students preparing to enter the profession.” Funds may be used to cover hourly wages and/or supplies. Kinesiology students at all campuses are eligible for this award.

To apply please complete the application and submit to the Kinesiology Student Scholarship Committee, Attn: Dori Sunday, 275 Recreation Building, University Park, PA 16802. The deadline for the application is April 17, 2008 at 5:00PM.

Joe Q. Bryant Scholarship

The American Council on Execise (ACE) is pleased to offer the Joe Q. Bryant (ACE) Educational Scholarship. The scholarship targets Penn State students who demonstrate a strong interest in a career in health and fitness through academic coursework, community service activities, extracurricular involvement, and/or employment. Each annual $1,000 scholarship is for the purchase of a complete ACE exam preparation study package. Applications must be completed throught the ACE website:
