Wondering what happened to your classmates, instructors or better yet, the name of your major? Or do you just wish to have the opportunity to share your experience with current Penn State students? Are you wondering how to get started? One of the first places you should visit is the recently updated Kinesiology Affiliate Program Group Web site, www.hhdev.psu.edu/alumni/apg/kines/. Here you will find opportunities to share your updates, express interest in getting involved with the APG, or review our recent events. Remember, all Kinesiology Alumni are automatically members of the APG (regardless of the name of your major)! We do not charge dues, but are willing to accept your donations (both of time and of the financial kind) for support of our events.

On the events page, you will see a special “thank you” to our alumni participants in the annual Kinesiology Alumni Roundtable on Monday November 13, 2006. With our diverse alumni base, we had representatives from industry, research, education, physical therapy, and chiropractic care.  Our traditional dinner hosted by Dr. Ricketts at the Tavern Restaurant followed a question and answer session in Henderson Building. This trademark annual event is hosted by the Kinesiology Club in conjunction with its annual career fair. We are always looking for new participants!

We have spent the past few months diligently creating a joint newsletter with the Department of Kinesiology, which should reach your mailboxes soon. We also are in the process of electing new board members; please look for an election ballot inside the newsletter.

Finally, it’s time for our annual alumni gathering at the National American College of Sports Medicine Meeting in New Orleans; more details will be posted on our Web site. We would like to consider other national or local meetings at which to host social functions, and you could represent Penn State and the APG at local or national conferences – just one of many ways in which you can become involved.

Now that your “surf” break is over (that was quick!) remember to submit your “Get Involved” form or drop the KINES APG a line! We are looking forward to hearing from you!
