The fourth annual PGM Alumni & Friends Tournament and Banquet was held on January 25, 2007. Twenty alumni and seventy-five current students attended, along with several Penn State faculty and staff members.

The venue for the annual Alumni and Friends Tournament and dinner is the Tuscawilla Country Club, located in Orlando, Florida. Michael Gardner, a 1996 graduate of the PGM program, is the general manager of Tuscawilla C.C. The event not only allows alumni to renew old friendships and to share the trials and tribulations of their respective properties, but it also allows the undergraduate students to spend a day interacting with the alumni. The 5th Annual Alumni and Friends event is scheduled for January 2008.

In addition to the Alumni & Friends Tournament and Dinner, PGM alumni gathered at the annual PGA Show and Convention, January 25-27, 2007. The PGA Show and Convention brings together more than 45,000 golf industry leaders, retailing experts, top educators, and golf organizations annually to discuss industry trends and attend educational programs designed to improve their business, careers, and growth of the game.

The PGM program hosted the 14th annual Family and Friends Tournament and Dinner on April 28, 2007. The Penn State Golf Courses hosted 233 individuals for golf, followed by a banquet attended by 260 family members and friends. The banquet celebrated student achievements and community service activities and recognized outstanding student leaders. Warren Bottke, PGA Master Professional, was the guest speaker.

In only its second year involved with THON, the PGM Student Society raised over $5,500 for the Four Diamonds Fund at Hershey Medical Center. Jacob Hoffer and Enzo Rallo represented the program as dancers for 46 hours. Thank you to all the alumni who donated to THON. We are very proud of the student society’s effort and we look forward to many more years of being associated with THON and its activities.

We look forward to another successful year with the PGM APG. Thank you!
