Dr. Claudia Probart, associate professor of nutritional sciences, was the lead author of a study that found that commercial marketing of food and beverage products in schools discourages a healthy nutrition environment. Dr. Barbara Rolls, holder of the Helen A. Guthrie chair in nutrition and director of the Laboratory for the Study of Human Ingestive Behavior, and her book “Volumetrics” were profiled in the March 19, 2007 issue of Newsweek. According to the article, “Volumetrics may be the most popular diet you've never heard of. It doesn't have the zing of The Zone or the image of bronzed beauties from South Beach. Dr. Gordon Jensen, professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and director of the Vanderbilt Center for Human Nutrition, has been appointed head of the Department of Nutritional Sciences effective July 1.
