Simulation Laboratory
The School of Nursing celebrates its forty-fifth anniversary in 2009. The school hosted a weekend of celebration in April, during which time the newly renovated Nursing Simulation Laboratory was unveiled. After the ceremony, Nursing students conducted tours of the new facility.
About the Simulation Laboratory
The Nursing Simulation Laboratory was designed to give students hands-on clinical experience and includes numerous wards:
- An intensive care unit
- A pediatric room
- A maternity room
- A "fundamentals" laboratory
- A three-room primary care suite
Each room is occupied by high-tech mannequins that simulate symptoms, diseases, and conditions that nurses are likely to see in a real care setting (for example, the maternity room will include a mannequin that delivers a baby).
