Penn State School of Nursing Admissions Information
In This Section:
First-year students
First-year students are admitted directly to the major of nursing and the first year of study may be completed at most Penn State campuses. Enrollment in the nursing major is a Fall admission only. You can obtain the Penn State application on the Undergraduate Admissions home page.
Change of Major
Change of Major students participate in an annual review held in January for selection for the following fall. For consideration, students must have completed with a grade of C or better either Biol 129 (Anatomy) or Biol 141 (Physiology) and, ideally, Biol 142, (Physiology lab) by the end of the fall semester and have the other completed or scheduled for the spring semester. In addition, an
Application for Review for the Nursing Major form must be submitted by December 31st.
Transfer students
Transfer students follow a two-step process:
- Students should submit an application to the Admissions Office. Be sure to submit official transcripts, current schedule, and also have your high school record sent as well. Application and information are available on the Undergraduate Admissions home page.
- After the Admissions Office reviews your records, the information will be forwarded to the School of Nursing to be reviewed by the School.
NOTE: Transfer admission is limited and based on space available. Students interested in the BS program must have completed Human Anatomy/Physiology in order to compete in the January review for fall admission. An
Application for Review for the Nursing Major must be submitted by December 31st. Students who have completed beginning nursing and clinical course work will be evaluated on an individual basis.
