Helen Cunningham Park, '56 HEc, passed away. She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Park.

 

'60s

 

Ron Park, '61g PhEd, was elected to District 9 Wrestling Hall of Fame. He also belongs to the PA Wrestling Coaches and the PA Sports Hall of Fame.

 

'70s

Kathleen Thompson Mellenberg, '72 IFS, opened Cradle to Crayons Child Development Center in Manassas, VA. Its enrollment is now 125 and it employs 30 staff members.

Marlene "Myke" Atwater Triebold, '72 HPE, became a Northwest Airlines flight attendant, based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Marlene previously had been in court administration in Sacramento, CA.

Lynne McGovern Webb, '72 ComD, has been appointed professor in communication at the University of Arkansas.

Tyrone Belcher, '74 HPA, has joined Conley Canitano and Associates, an information technology consulting services firm. Tyrone is an account executive and locates SAP and Oracle consulting assignments for over 250 consultants available for contract work.

Stephen J. Matusiak, '75 LEC, was recently given the Meritorious Service Award for developing and providing invaluable training to all departments of the Criminal Justice Academy in Fairfax, VA. Christina Drosinski Richardson, '75 IFS, '81g EEC, is the principal of the Georgian Forest Elementary School, in Silver Spring, MD, and has been awarded the Exemplary Reading Program in Maryland by the International Reading Association.
Mary Anne Peters, '75 NURS 1, has received the Lindback Award for Outstanding Teaching. She is the first nursing professor at Eastern College to win this award. Mary Anne is currently a doctoral candidate at Widener University.  

'80s

Francine Barbetta, '80 IFS, is currently pursuing her doctorate in clinical psychology at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and works as a psychotherapist. She received her master's degree in counseling in 1994 from Rider University. Dianne L. Myers, '80 NURS, '85g NURS, was awarded "Fellowship" status in the National Gerontological Nursing Association and was promoted to director of patient services at Hospital of Summit Health in Chambersburg, PA. Dianne has also achieved case management administrator certification.
Daniel Raiten, '80g A NTR, '84g NUTR, has assumed the position of health services administrator for the newly created Office of Prevention Research and International Programs of the NIH/National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. This office serves as the coordinating center for prevention related research and international programs for the Institute. Major Margie E. Griffith, '81 HPE, has been selected for promotion to lieutenant colonel in the United States Army and has been assigned as the battalion commander and professor of military science at Lehigh University in Bethlehem. She will be responsible for commanding the ROTC program at Lehigh University.
Stephen Kadar, Jr., '82 MER, is now project manager in the store space planning department of Circuit City Stores. He has passed the American Institute of Certified Planners Comprehensive Written Exam and works in Richmond, VA. David A. Lewis, '83 2 RTL, is store manager of Scot's Lo-Cost in Mill Hall, PA. David has worked for Weis Markets for fifteen years and as store manager for nine of those years.
Ronald G. Duez, '84 HPA, '88g PUB A, is an administrator for the Crawford County Quality Living Center, a 94-bed personal care home in Saegertown, PA. Wendy Hendrick Owen, '85 RcPk, has been promoted to Vice President, Communications at Lockheed Martin Technology Services, which is one of the four business units making up the Lockheed Martin Corporation.
Paula A. Krzemien MS, RD, CNSD, '85 NUTR, '97g HlEd, received the Cardioascular Dietitian "Pinnacle Award" from the American Heart Association's Lehigh Valley Division. Scott A. Williamson, '87 HRIM, has accepted a new position as director of regional sales for the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. Scott will be generating meetings and convention business for the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Previously, he was global account director for Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Washington, D.C.
Christopher W. Babst, Sr., '89 HRIM, is the new owner of The Watershed Grill at The Mill Race Inn in Holland, PA. Jay Lynn, '89 HRIM, has accepted a new position as producer consultant for Bass Hotels & Resorts for the Southern California/Nevada region.

'90s

David K. Seamans, '90 RcPk, is now head softball coach and assistant professor of physical education at Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina. Melissa D. Altman, '91 Nutr, is currently pursuing her doctorate in health studies at Temple University in Philadelphia. She was awarded the "Young Dietitian of the Year" award. Melissa also has a master of science in health education from Beaver College. She is a registered dietitian and a certified nutrition support dietitian.
Raeshel M. Rhodes Ziegler, '91 HDFS, graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a master of arts degree in student affairs in higher education. Raeshel accepted a position as an academic counselor for the Smeal College of Business Administration at Penn State. Jennifer Hunter Rivardo, '92 NURS1, is a nursing supervisor at Presbyterian Senior Care in Oakmont, PA. in Temple University's MBA program.
Anjanette Flemming, '93 HPA, is now working at the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Jennifer L. Joseph, '93 HRIM, is now the owner of "The Caboose Grille," a restaurant in Souderton, PA.
Kurt Merrill, '93 RPM, '96g LeSt, is the national director of Conservation Work Crews for the Student Conservation Association, Inc. In addition to overseeing a large-scale national program, he oversees the organization's national emergency response system and is vice chair of the organization's risk management team. Kurt was recently appointed as a Student Conservation Association representative to the National Wilderness Risk Managers Committee. Natalie Patterson, '94 Nutr, is the clinical development coordinator for Pharmacyclics in Sunnyvale, CA.
George Rowan, '95 HRIM, was promoted to labor manager of Global Services for the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. John D. Ivanko, '96 LeSt, is co-author of his first children's book To Be A Kid, with Maya Ajmera, which has been released by Charlesbridge. To be A Kid celebrates kids as they play and learn, as they spend time with their friends and family, and as they discover their environment and the world. John is an award-winning photographer, and author and freelance journalist. When he is not traveling, John operates Inn Serendipity, a bed and breakfast in Browntown, VA.
James A. Decker, '97 HRIM, recently joined the Jurys Doyle Hotel Group as regional sales manager. He is based out of the Doyle Washington Hotel in Washington, D. C. He currently resides in Alexandria, VA. Jerilyn Joy Hanhauser, '97 CmDis, received her master of arts from the University of Maryland in speech and hearing science. She has accepted a position as a speech therapist at the Summitt School in Annapolis, Maryland.
Scott Mullins, '97 HDFS, is enrolled in the two-year individualized master of arts program in psychology at Antioch University in Seattle. Scott will be moving to Schumacher College, in southwestern England to begin a curriculum in interdisciplinary ecological studies and holistic science later this year. Karen Joy Sankey, '98 HDFS, has accepted a teaching position with the Child Development Laboratory in Penn State's College of Health and Human Development. She'll work with preschoolers, ages 3-6 years.
Linda L. Smith, '98 LeSt, has been named to the post of communications/marketing specialist, for the Central Service Center in Kittanning, PA by the Keystone Tall Tree Girl Scout Council, Inc. Her major responsibilities will include promoting public awareness of and support for the Girl Scouts. Jennifer A. Vernon, '98 HPA, is a performance improvement manager at Eagleville Hospital, an alcohol and drug addiction treatment center in Eagleville, PA.
Michael A. Beifeld, '99 HPA, is a management associate/assistant project manager at Intracorp, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cigna Healthcare specializing in healthcare and disability management. Michael has been accepted in Temple University's MBA program.

IN MEMORIAM

Joann M. Keene Reinoehl, '91 HRIM, and her husband, Steve Reinoehl died from injuries received in an automobile accident.
