PGA Golf Management

Internship Request Form

We appreciate your interest in Penn State's PGA Golf Management Program. As you know, the internships are a very important part of each student's education. We will make every effort to communicate the information you provide to our students. With this in mind, we are asking for a few minutes of your time to complete the remainder of this form.

From year-to-year we have a supply of approximately 150 students who will complete summer internships (May-August). Approximately 20 of these students will be available for summer and fall internships (May-December) and approximately 10 will be looking for a spring internship (January-April). We will make every effort to match our students with the needs of your operation; however, due to supply and demand considerations, we are unable to provide a guarantee.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE INTERNSHIP REQUEST FORM

Some of the requested information may not be applicable. If this is the case, place an "N/A" in the appropriate areas.

Course/Agency Section

Under the box labeled Type of Course, list one of the following if you are a golf property/agency: Daily Fee, Private, Semi-Private, Resort, Municipal, Military, Range, Teaching Academy, PGA Section, PGA National, PGA Tour or Other.

The PGA has defined three levels of interns as follows:

In order for the student to be given exposure to all phases of the operation, the PGA has established guidelines that require each student to complete Level 1, 2, and 3 internships before graduating.

Level 1 - Can be all outside work (golf cars, golf range, etc.)
Level 2 - Inside and outside work (50% in golf shop, 50% outside)
Level 3 - At least 75% in golf shop, working tournaments, etc.

Internship Availability/Duties/Compensation Section

On the far left of this section, please indicate which season(s) internships are offered and how many positions you wish to fill. With lodging being an important consideration, please check the box if provided and in the Lodging Comments box provide details about lodging, approximate cost if not provided, distance from your facility, etc. Please check the appropriate box for the level(s) you are willing to provide along with an approximate percentage for each of the various duties inherent in that level. In terms of the compensation box(es) located at the bottom of each column, only indicate the student's hourly and weekly rate for each level offered. If the student can receive additional income through tips or gratuities, teaching, tournament operations, etc., please note the approximate amount per week and the sources of additional income in the Comments box on the far right side of the page.

We realize it's always the busiest people who are called upon, so, in advance, thank you for your interest in Penn State's PGA Golf Management Program.

By submitting this internship request and checking this box, the agency agrees to support the student with their current PGA Golf Management requirements. If you have any questions concerning items on the following page, please contact Mr. Brian Soule' (814) 863-2924, bjs48@psu.eduor Mr. Burch Wilkes at (814) 863-2924, gbw104@psu.edu.
