Congratulations Alums
Barbara Heller (’76) bheller@napervilleparks.org has been named executive director of the Naperville Park District in Chicago, Illinois.
Woody Petchel (’76) petchel29@msn.com was recently named president of Cerro Metal Products in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Cerro manufactures brass rod, wire and low-melt alloys for the plumbing, hardware, valve and fitting, electronics and other industries.
Greg Petry (’81) gpetry@waukenganparks.org is executive director of the Waukegan Park District in Illinois, which has recently been recognized as an Illinois Distinguished Agency by the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association Joint Distinguished Park and Recreation Agency Committee.
Carla Horn (’82) carlahorn@highstream.net is now assistant principal for the New Garden Elementary School, which is part of the Kennett Consolidated School District in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
Michael Harris (’02) mikeharris22@hotmail.com completed the Boston Marathon in 3:00:00 hours.
Christopher Saello (’88) csaello@comcast.net has been elected to the board of the Penn State College of Health and Human Development Alumni Society and will serve a three-year term beginning July 1. He is executive director of the Brandywine YMCA in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
Congratulations Students
The PGM Student Society presented the first donation in the amount of $1,000 to the “Dr. Frank B. Guadagnolo Scholarship Fund” at the 12th Annual PGM Family and Friends Tournament and Banquet, which was held on April 23, 2005. Two hundred and twenty golfers participated in the tournament and 221 guests attended the banquet. A number of awards were presented throughout the evening, including the recognition of the 2004-2005 scholarship recipients, tournament winners and the special presentation for the new scholarship fund.
The PGM Student Society is pleased to announce the newly appointed officers for 2005-2006: Michael Pius, president; Dan Benzenberg, vice president; Mike Simcox, treasurer; Pat Gunning, secretary; Jon Krinsky, senior class representative; Jared Arentz, junior class representative; John Ebmeyer, sophomore class representative; and T.J. Bradley, tournament director. Sharon Houser received an “HHD Staff All-Star” award at the College of Health & Human Development’s Staff Recognition luncheon on April 28 at the Nittany Lion Inn.
Linda Caldwell is replacing Garry Chick as the professor-in-charge of the graduate program beginning with the 2005 summer semester.
