Recreation/Tourism Management and Marketing Lab
Today, no recreation or tourism business, from the smallest outfitter to the largest theme park chain, can survive without an overall business strategy. Understanding the unique characteristics of managing and marketing businesses within the recreation/tourism industries is important to maintaining a competitive position in the marketplace. Many principles that drive strategy for recreation/tourism businesses were derived directly from traditional business models and do not account for the unique service environments in which they exist. Thus, our goal is to examine how management and marketing strategies could be adapted to capture the synergistic, dynamic, and complex relationships among consumers, suppliers, host communities, and legislative organizations (e.g., governments, associations, nongovernmental agencies).
