Shaver's Creek Environmental Center
In This Section:
Shaver's Creek Environmental Center (SCEC), is Penn State's nature center located twelve miles south of the University Park campus in the Stone Valley Recreation Area and is the home to RPTM's Block where students earn credits for the semester in classes taught at the Center taught by SCEC faculty.
Activities during block semester range from a two-week Discovery trip through the New England states, visits to several parks and nature centers, making effective natural and cultural history exhibits, and delivering presentations at cultural and natural history interpretation events. As the living laboratory for RPTM, the Center hosts a variety of public, school, and youth programs that provide students with hands-on experience in RPTM programming.
