Therapeutic Recreation Student Society
"An Occupational Therapist works with an individual from the waist up, a Physical Therapist works with an individual from the waist down, but a Recreational Therapist works with an individual from the inside out."
The purpose of the Therapeutic Recreation Student Society (TRSS) is to: bring Therapeutic Recreation students and other interested students together for educational purposes and updates in the field of Therapeutic Recreation and related areas; provide information about and opportunities for students to volunteer with various special populations; make efforts to increase interest in Therapeutic Recreation as a major option of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management.

Anyone can become a member by searching the title under 'find a group' and clicking 'enroll'. By becoming a member, you will have access information to the TRSS, student forums, TR option academic plan, related links, and more.
Service in the Community
The TRSS is fortunate to be affiliated with LifeLink PSU and their LifeLink LateNight program. Members of the TRSS are joined by students, alumni, and mentors of LifeLink PSU to run this program once each week. It is a great opportunity to engage with local school district students with special needs in a normalized social setting.
Plans for the Future
We hope to increase enrollment in the Therapeutic Recreation Option at Penn State, to start a mentoring program between current students and alumni of the TR Option, to have speakers come in to discuss their path to TR and their current TR position, and to create a forum to share information about internship and job opportunities in the field.
