Trip McCoy Vice President
Bear, Stearns and Company, Inc.

Trip McCoy is an analyst for Bear Stearns’ Gaming & Lodging Equity Research Team. That team has been ranked on Institutional Investor’s “All-America Research Team” for eight years—including its top ranking in 2001—and has been recognized in four Wall Street Journal “All-Star Analyst” surveys.

Mr. McCoy’s research coverage encompasses a dozen large- and small-cap lodging companies and hotel real estate investment trusts. More recently, Mr. McCoy also has initiated high-yield coverage of the lodging industry. His expertise and analysis has been featured in several industry publications, including Lodging Almanac, The Monthly Lodging Intelligence Report and The Supply & Demand Chronicle, as well as several other specialty research products. He also has appeared on Bloomberg TV, CNNfn and National Public Radio.

Mr. McCoy previously worked for Merrill Lynch before joining Bear Stearns in 1998. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in economics from the University of Richmond.

Lance T. Shaner
Chairman and CEO, Shaner Hotel Group LP

As chairman and CEO of the Shaner Hotel Group, Lance Shaner oversees a State College, Pennsylvania-based organization that currently owns and operates 23 hotels in 15 states. Under his leadership, the company has completed more than $500 million in transactions and grown to become a highly respected, fully integrated hotel company.

A graduate of Alfred (N.Y.) University with a bachelor’s degree in history, Mr. Shaner launched Shaner Hotel Group with his brother, Fred, in 1983. Seven years earlier, he and his brother started Shaner Development Corp., which developed and managed a major cable television network and a large, regional oil company. Throughout his extensive business career, Mr. Shaner has worked in finance and venture capital, specializing in contract negotiations and acquisitions.

Mr. Shaner has served on the full service owners committee for Bass Hotels and presently serves on Marriott International’s full service hotel owner’s committee. He presently serves as an honorary professor for the Penn State School of Hospitality Management at Penn State and the University of Delaware’s Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management.

Mr. Shaner is also active in several community organizations and has served as an advocate for disadvantaged children.

William J. Shaw
President and Chief Operating Officer, Marriott International, Inc.

As president and COO of Marriott International, William J. Shaw oversees the Lodging, Senior Living Services and Distribution Services operations as well as the business information systems and technology, architecture and construction, strategic planning and corporate human resources of a company with over 2,600 operating units in the United States and 63 other countries and territories. Marriott International reported system-wide sales of $20 billion for fiscal year 2001 and has more than 140,000 employees.

Mr. Shaw joined Marriott from Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1974. He was elected corporate controller in 1979 and a corporate vice president in 1984; in 1985, he assumed responsibility for Marriott’s Tax Department and Risk Management and was named senior vice president of finance. He was elected treasurer in 1986, and then was appointed chief financial officer and elected executive vice president in 1988. Mr. Shaw was named president of Marriott’s Service Group in February 1992 and became president and COO of Marriott International in March 1997.

Mr. Shaw holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Marriott International and is also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Suburban Hospital Foundation and the University of Notre Dame.
