Prospective Students: Facilities
The School of Hospitality Management is proud to provide an outstanding assortment of facilities to meet the needs of SHM students.
The Mateer Building is a state-of-the-art facility available to students in HRIM. Its resource center provides access to on-line recruitment as well as acts an an interview center. Mateer is home to the student organization offices and serves as an informal study lounge and meeting place for student groups, clubs and class project teams.
A demonstration auditorium, conference rooms and faculty offices complete the long list of features available in the Mateer Building which was completed in 1993 and named for Marlin C. Matty Mateer and A. Laura Mateer, whose generous support helped make the construction possible.
The Mateer Research Kitchen
Research, teaching and production kitchens service student-managed and very popular commercial and private dining operations within the Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management program. Café Laura, with its elegantly curved glass walls, makes a dramatic practical service lab.
The technology research center and information technology instruction center make it possible for an entire class to experience hands-on instruction with the very latest in hospitality and recreation information technology systems. They also offer an opportunity for students to sharpen their basic computer skills and better understand hospitality computer systems.
